Court of Appeals rules in favour of NJD in the Hallingskeid case

On 9 August 2017 the Court of Appeals (second instance court) also ruled in favour of NJD in the Hallingskeid case.

In 2011 there was a fire close to the Hallingskeid railway station on the Oslo-Bergen railway line. Prior to the fire, NJD had performed welding works on the line as a subcontractor to Jernbaneverket (National Rail Administration). The welding was done according to standard procedures. Following the fire, NDJ has been involved in a court case related to damages resulting from the fire. In 2015 the District Court (lower level court) ruled in favour of NJD. The decision was appealed. On 9 August 2017 the Court of Appeals (second instance court) also ruled in favour of NJD. The implication of the ruling is zero liability for damages for NJD and full coverage of all legal costs.
