Herkules Private Equity Fund I sells Wonderland, a subsidiary of European House of Beds

(Oslo, 16 November 2012) Herkules Private Equity Fund I has entered into an agreement to sell the mattress company Wonderland AS, to the Norwegian furniture corporation, Interstil Holding AS. Wonderland is a subsidiary of European House of Beds AS, a Herkules Private Equity Fund I portfolio company. The management of Wonderland will continue as part owners of the company.

Herkules has owned Wonderland since 2006. The company has 87 employees and is located in Åndalsnes, Norway. Through Herkules’ ownership Wonderland has established strong customer relations in the Nordic market and strengthened its position and brand in the Norwegian market. For 2012 the company expects revenues of approximately NOK 265 million.

“We are very satisfied that we have found a Norwegian, industrial buyer for Wonderland”, comments Tore Rynning-Nielsen, Senior Partner at Herkules Capital. “The fact that the management continues as part owners ensures continuity of the strategic work that has been added to the company”.

The acquisition of Wonderland supports Interstil’s target of being a comprehensive supplier to the furniture chains and of building market positions based on strong brands. The company already owns the furniture companies Hjellegjerde and Hødnebø. “The purchase of Wonderland will add a strong, Norwegian brand to our portfolio”, says Olav Inge Røyset at Interstil.
